In direct response to a trend of worsening crime, a local group of concerned citizens founded Shomrim of Baltimore, Inc. in October of 2005. Shomrim’s main goal since that time is to improve safety and security for all community members. And, in fact, crime rates have continued on a downward trend since that moment.
50+ Volunteers

The number of first responders has grown from a handful of people to over 50 volunteers. Additionally, we have a number of people who run dispatch and other ancillary services. These dedicated volunteers provide additional safety and security assistance to people throughout the Northwest Baltimore neighborhood.
Shomrim works closely with police departments in both Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Shomrim assists the police by helping to deter crime by being additional eyes and ears and helping in other ways as well.
Assisting Police
In some cases, police request our assistance; for instance, in the case of missing persons (the reason we established Maryland Volunteer Search And Rescue), community events, and other needs.
